About Safety in Israel

Is it safe to travel to Israel?
Israel is an extremely safe country to visit and tour. In 2013, close to 3.5 million tourists came to Israel, an all-time record, and all of them went back home again safe and sound.

Israel is one of the world’s calmest and safest tourism destinations. Israel’s crime rate is extremely low. Young children play in the parks and it is safe to walk the streets of our cities day and night. A leader of the Society of American Travel Writers that visited Israel last year , wrote: “as I told my worrying family, “I feel safer here than walking around Tampa or Jacksonville.”

  • Over the past three years, Israel has continued to show impressive growth in inbound tourism, with an average of 3.4 million tourists a year from more than 60 countries worldwide.
  • According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, the number of visitors to Israel was 14 percent higher in December 2013 than in December of the previous year. A record 3.54 million tourists entered the country in 2013, half a percent more than in 2012.
  • In 2013 over 690,000 tourists arrived from North America, and 2014 continues to trend very positively.
  • Every single day, there are more than 100,000 tourists exploring the wonders of Israel.
  • Every day over 80 airlines arrive in Israel’s Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport. From North America alone, five airlines fly nonstop from major gateway cities .
  • In 2011 and 2012, some 140 new wholesale travel companies and tour operators, as well as 50 airlines, signed marketing agreements with the Israel Ministry of Tourism, underscoring their confidence in the potential of promoting Israel as a unique vacation destination.
